  • Sanford Meisner

    Sanford Meisner (1905-1997) was a legendary American Acting Teacher who founded the Meisner Technique which emphasises truthful acting.

    He was a founder-member of the celebrated Group Theatre in America in the 1930’s and spent nearly 50 years training actors at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York.

    His Graduate Actors contain many Hollywood Stars including: Timothee Chalamet, Alexandra Daddario, Sandra Bullock, James Gandolfini, Christoph Waltz, Diane Keaton, Steve McQueen, Robert Duvall, Gregory Peck, to name just a few.

    Scott Williams

    Scott Williams is a direct student of Sanford Meisner.

    Directing actors from the age of 17, he holds a BA in English Literature and an MA of Arts in Dramatic Literature, and in 1996, he moved to London, UK to establish The Impulse Company where he trains actors in the Meisner Technique.

    Scott teaches internationally; regularly visiting USA, France, Hong Kong, Australia, Turkey and of course the UK. He has distilled the Meisner training into 5 exercises based on truthful, authentic acting and FUN.

  • Rob’s teaching credits include Senior Acting Tutor at the New York Film Academy Australia, Meisner and Acting For Film Tutor at Griffith Conservatorium in Brisbane and Acting Tutor (Meisner Technique) at Imperfect Creatives and The Actor’s Club on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

    In the UK, Rob was Artistic Director of Raa Theatre (his own company) and he worked with Mikhail Mokeev of Moscow Art Theatre, who taught Rob Stanislavsky Technique. Rob was also AD for two seasons of Weekly Repertory Theatre at Spilsby Theatre in Lincolnshire.

    Rob’s recent film credits include ‘Take My Hand’(2024) and ‘Space/Time’(2025). He was a finalist for ‘Best Australian Actor 2019’ at the AFIN International Film Festival for ‘Norm’(2019). Rob highly values his work with Scott Williams over recent years and he completed Impulse Teacher Training with Scott in 2022.
